Blended finance for African agriculture: how to deliver impact at scale, reach smallholder farmers and build the next generation of competitive African agribusinesses.

Chris Isaac, AgDevCo’s Chief Investment Officer and co-founder, will be delivering the 41st Ralph Melville Lecture in association with The Tropical Agriculture Association International (TAAI). The event is scheduled for Thursday 5 September at 16:00 CET Rome time, 15:00 UK time. The lecture will take place at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in central London (tickets are limited) and will be livestreamed on Zoom. About the event:

  • A lecture sponsored by the Tropical Agriculture Association International (TAAI) in memory of renowned agriculturalist Ralph Melville, delivered by AgDevCo’s Chief Investment Officer and co-founding director, Chris Isaac.
  • Drawing on examples from AgDevCo‘s investment portfolio, and lessons learned over the past fifteen years, the lecture will cover how blended finance (i.e. combinations of concessional and private capital) can be used to invest for impact at scale, reach smallholder farmers and build the next generation of competitive African agribusinesses.
  • Invited guests include tropical agriculture specialists, impact investors, government officials, researchers and African agribusiness entrepreneurs.
