Understanding the role of land rights for sustainable reconstruction in conflict and post-conflict settings

Over a year of armed conflict has devastated the agrarian economy in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, with long-term implications for agrifood systems. Building on the findings of a recently published FAO brief, this event will explore the status of land tenure in Gaza and the West Bank. Drawing on experiences from other post-conflict countries such as Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Syria and Timor-Leste, the technical briefing will recommend interventions for restoring rights, securing livelihoods, and rebuilding the economy, exploring how redressing land rights can contribute to post-conflict peace building, justice and reconstruction.
