OUT NOW: STRATEGIC PLAN 2021–2025
The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development has just launched its new Strategic Plan for the 2021–2025 period
Developed over the course of 2020 by the Platform Secretariat, under the guidance of the Board, the new Strategic Plan 2021–2025 sets the Platform’s new directions, vision and mission. The Plan comes at a critical time for the Platform, following the transition of its secretariat to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). This presents an opportunity to renew the Platform and to refine its staffing, governance and operational modalities, to enhance its capacity for impact. The Donor Platform remains highly relevant and is valued by donors as a unique mechanism to support their efforts to better align and optimize the impact of their investments.

REPORT OF THE 2020 ANNUAL
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
STRENGTHENING COORDINATION TOWARDS SDG2: PATHWAYS FOR FOOD SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION
Held in November 2020, the selected theme for the 2020 Annual General Assembly (AGA), “Pathways for Food Systems Transformation” opened a discussion on what processes are needed at local, national, regional and global levels to underpin food systems transformation, and the role that donors can play in catalyzing and supporting such processes. The outcomes from the AGA sessions are being used to develop a Platform preparatory contribution for the Food Systems Summit, which will assess the ways donors currently support and invest in food systems and identify options for strengthening or changing these in the context of the wider agenda for food systems transformation.

FEEDING AFRICA: LEADERSHIP TO SCALE UP SUCCESSFUL INNOVATIONS
The African Development Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in partnership with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and the CGIAR System Organization, will co-host a high-level dialogue: Feeding Africa: leadership to scale up successful innovations. Forum participants will identify ways to expand activities, financing and partnerships that promote Africa’s agricultural transformation through technology and innovation.
