This publication highlights the latest in a series of country change stories connecting global agrifood systems discourse to specific realities in Côte d’Ivoire, Cambodia, the Pacific, Guatemala and Albania, to demystify some of the terms involved and make sense of what they mean at country level. The stories draw on the experiences of change by governments, civil society organizations and other development partners.
This latest publication from FAO’s Agrifood Systems and Food Safety Division (ESF) – Stories of agrifood systems change – shares insights from country change in Côte d’Ivoire, Cambodia, the Pacific, Guatemala, and Albania.
The stories illustrate transformative efforts and successes in agrifood systems across diverse regions, showing how countries are working to adopt elements of a systems approach for greater social, economic and environmental sustainability. The five stories narrate the changes observed by different partners at the system level in their countries – in terms of mindsets, power dynamics, relations and structures – and explore the enabling and limiting factors for these changes.
The publication serves as both a source of inspiration and a practical guide for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders worldwide. It underscores the need for continuous efforts and collaboration to advance agrifood systems transformation in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
