The Food Systems Architecture Database, developed by the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development, offers a comprehensive overview of the key players and their interconnections. This new tool aims to shed light on the often complex and multifaceted web of organizations and initiatives shaping global food systems and agricultural development.

In the past decade, international interest and attention to food systems and agricultural development has grown significantly. Consequently, there has been a proliferation of new initiatives and networks established on these topics, and some existing entities have also started or renewed focus on food and agriculture. [1]
This interactive database was therefore designed and built by the Secretariat of the Donor Platform to illustrate the international architecture of key organizations and initiatives working on food systems and agricultural development. Â
The database aims to help the donor community, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners navigate and discover this terrain. Each organization is classified under at least one category and subcategory, and all organizations are classified by their main thematic areas. Â
The database can be accessed through an interactive mode for discovery or a practical tabular view. These tables are also available for download. The information is regularly updated to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.

By providing a visual representation of the food systems architecture, the database can help to identify potential synergies, gaps, and opportunities for collaboration. It is hoped that this tool will contribute to a more coherent and effective approach to addressing global food security and sustainable agriculture challenges.
Explore the database and provide your feedback and further suggestions for inclusion by emailing us at secretariat@donorplatform.org.
The GDPRD has created two databases to aid in understanding the food systems and rural development landscape. The Recommendations Database collects and deciphers international reports for practical use while the Architecture Database provides an overview of organizations and key initiatives focused on these areas.
