World Rural Forum report at the midpoint of the UN Decade on Family Farming (UNDFF), assessing five years of implementation.

The World Rural Forum (WRF), in collaboration with various members, family farmers’ organizations (AFAPDRRCOPROFAMPROPACPIFON), publishes the report “United Nations Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028 (UNDFF) – Milestones and Horizon,” which provides an assessment of the first five years of the Decade’s implementation.

The analysis is from the perspective of family farmers themselves, who are key to building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems. In particular, it incudes:

  • 8 successful experiences at global, regional, and national levels that are part of significant achievements in the first 5 years of UNDFF implementation.
  • 10 recommendations to scale up the implementation of the UNDFF and strengthen family farming as a vital component for the sustainability and resilience of food systems.
  • 10 priority topics for the second half of the UNDFF, identified and ratified by over 200 stakeholders gathered at the VIII WRF Global Conference (March 2024).

The report was presented at the Global Family Farming Forum, co-organized by FAO and IFAD, on 15-17 October in Rome.
